Answer
Dunham was a pioneer in ventriloquism, a type of performance art in which the artist appears to make a dummy talk, move, and otherwise behave like a living person. He is credited with promoting the art form more than anyone since Edgar Bergen, a popular ventriloquist who died in 1978. Dunham's work helped to popularize ventriloquism in the United States and around the world.
