Prior to moving to the college level, Pruitt was an assistant coach at Hoover High School in Hoover, Alabama. He served in that position for two seasons from 2002 to 2004. During his time at Hoover, the school won two state championships and he was named the Alabama Assistant Coach of the Year in 2003.
