Jerry Pournelle was a prolific American science fiction author, editor, essayist and critic, and commentator on military, technical and political affairs. He was the author or co-author of over 50 novels and hundreds of shorter works. His best-known work is the co-written novel The Mote in God's Eye, which won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1977.
