Jim Thome attended Illinois Central College, a community college in East Peoria, Illinois. He played baseball for the Cougars, the college's athletic teams, for two years before being drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 13th round of the 1990 MLB draft. Thome went on to have a successful MLB career, playing for 22 seasons and hitting 612 home runs.
