Answer
In 1815, Joachim Murat, King of Naples, launched the Neapolitan War in an attempt to regain control over Italy. Murat, who had been installed on the Neapolitan throne by Napoleon Bonaparte after the Treaty of Schönbrunn in 1809, lost his crown after Napoleon's defeat in 1814. Determined to restore his rule, Murat formed alliances with several Italian states and launched a surprise attack on the Austrian forces in Italy.
