The Malmedy Massacre was a war crime committed by members of the 12th SS Panzer Division "Hitlerjugend" against American prisoners of war during the Battle of the Bulge. The massacre took place on December 17, 1944, in the vicinity of Malmedy, Belgium. In the early morning hours of December 17, the 12th SS Panzer Division launched an attack against the U.S. 28th Infantry Division.
