Miguel I, the eldest son of John VI, led a rebellion against his father in 1824. Motivated by liberal and nationalist ideas, Miguel sought to limit the power of the monarchy and establish a constitutional government. Despite achieving temporary success, the rebellion ultimately failed, and Miguel was exiled. He later became king of Portugal following his father's death in 1826.
