Joe Nathan was the first player from Stony Brook to reach the MLB. He played college baseball for the Stony Brook Seawolves from 1997 to 1999. After graduating, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the fourth round of the 1999 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut with the Twins in 2003. He has also played for the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
