Jeffrey Ross Hyman was the birth name of Joey Ramone, the lead singer of the punk rock band Ramones. Hyman was born in Queens, New York, on May 19, 1951, and grew up in Forest Hills. He began playing music in high school, and in 1974 he formed the Ramones with John Cummings (Johnny Ramone), Douglas Colvin (Dee Dee Ramone), and Tommy Ramone.
