John Brunner was an English author who predominantly wrote science fiction. His work often explored themes of social and political issues, such as technological change, overpopulation, and the dangers of totalitarianism. Some of his best-known works include The Sheep Look Up, Stand on Zanzibar, and The Shockwave Rider. Brunner was a prolific writer, and his output spanned more than five decades. He died in 1995.
