Designated as 1996 Adams, this minor planet orbits the Sun in the main asteroid belt located between Mars and Jupiter. It was discovered on July 24, 1966, by the Argentine astronomer Carlos Ulrrico Cesco at the Félix Aguilar Observatory in El Leoncito, Argentina. The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids that share similar orbital characteristics and are thought to have a common origin.
