John Dickinson was a militia officer during the Revolutionary War. He was commissioned as a colonel in the Pennsylvania militia in 1775 and served in the Battle of Long Island and the Battle of Trenton. He was also a member of the Continental Congress and helped to draft the Declaration of Independence.
