Answer
In 1907, Kellogg was disfellowshipped by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He had been a member of the church since 1864, and had served as its president from 1883 to 1903. Kellogg's disfellowship was the result of a series of disagreements with the church's leadership, including his support for the use of meat and alcohol, and his criticism of the church's doctrine of the Sabbath.
