Theodore II Laskaris (1172/73 – 1222) was Emperor of Nicaea from 1205 to 1222. He was the son of the emperor John III Doukas Vatatzes and his wife, Irene Doukaina Angelina. Theodore succeeded his father as emperor in 1205. He ruled over the Empire of Nicaea, one of the Greek successor states to the Byzantine Empire. Theodore was a skilled general and a capable administrator.
