John Napier was a Scottish mathematician who also studied physics. He is best known for his work on logarithms, which he published in his book Mirifici logarithmorum canonis descriptio in 1614. Napier's work on logarithms was groundbreaking and helped to make calculations much easier. He also made significant contributions to the field of optics, and he is credited with inventing the reflecting telescope.
