Paintsil has retired from professional football. He last played for Hearts of Oak of the Ghanaian Premier League. He was a Ghanaian international who played as a right back. He was capped 100 times for Ghana, and represented the country at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, as well as the 2008 African Cup of Nations. He was also named in Ghana's 2012 African Cup of Nations squad.
