John Paul Stevens graduated from Northwestern University's Law School. After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1941, Stevens served as a fighter pilot in World War II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. After the war, Stevens attended Northwestern University's Law School, where he graduated in 1947. He then clerked for Supreme Court Justice Wiley Rutledge.
