The Surtees Racing Organisation team stopped competing in 1978 after being taken over by Wolf Racing. Surtees had been a successful team in Formula One, winning the world championship in 1964 and 1966. However, the team struggled in the late 1970s and was unable to compete with the big teams like Ferrari and McLaren. In 1978, Wolf Racing took over the Surtees team and the team was renamed Wolf-Williams.
