On June 30th, 1984, John Turner was sworn in as Prime Minister of Canada. Turner was a member of the Liberal Party and had previously served as Minister of Finance and Minister of Justice. He was elected Prime Minister after the resignation of Pierre Trudeau. Turner's government was defeated in a vote of no confidence in December 1984 and he was replaced by Brian Mulroney.
