John Turner was the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada from 1984 to 1990. He was first elected to Parliament in 1962 and served as Minister of Finance from 1972 to 1975. He was Prime Minister of Canada from 1984 to 1988, but his government was defeated in the 1988 election.
