John W. Campbell, Jr., is widely credited with helping to shape the modern science fiction genre. Campbell was an editor for Astounding Science Fiction magazine from 1937 to 1971, and during his tenure he published the works of many of the genre's most important writers, including Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, and Arthur C. Clarke.
