David Herold surrendered to authorities during Booth's last standoff. Herold was a Confederate spy and Booth's accomplice in the assassination of President Lincoln. He was captured after Booth was killed in a gunfight with Union soldiers. Herold was tried for treason and sentenced to life in prison. He was released from prison in 1869 and died in 1870.
