Pope John XIX served as the bishop of Rome from 1024 until his death in 1032. He was born in Rome and was a member of the powerful Tusculum family. John XIX was a noted patron of the arts and literature and was also responsible for the construction of several churches in Rome. He was succeeded by Pope Benedict IX.
