José A. Santos was a professional jockey from Mexico who rode in races in the United States. He was born in Mexico City in 1890 and began his career as a jockey in 1909. Santos rode in over 1,000 races in his career and won over 100 of them. He was also the first Mexican jockey to win the Kentucky Derby, which he did in 1930.
