Answer
Laurent-Désiré Kabila, formerly a guerrilla leader fighting against Mobutu Sese Seko's regime, was assisted by José Eduardo dos Santos, the president of Angola, in becoming the new president of Zaire, now known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
