Josemaría Escrivá died on 26 June 1975. He was a Spanish priest and founder of Opus Dei, a Catholic institution of lay people and priests. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1992 and canonized by him in 2002. Escrivá was a prolific writer and his works include The Way, The Foundations of the Spiritual Life, Christ is Passing By, and Furrow.
