Josemaría Escrivá died in Rome on June 26, 1975. He was a Spanish priest and the founder of Opus Dei, a Catholic organization of lay people who seek to sanctify their work and ordinary life. Escrivá was beatified in 1992 and canonized in 2002. His feast day is October 26.
