Corruption allegations against Richard Nixon led to his impeachment trial. Nixon had been accused of using illegal wiretaps to record conversations of government officials and political opponents, and of attempting to cover up the scandal. The House of Representatives voted to impeach Nixon on two articles of impeachment: obstruction of justice and abuse of power.
