Francis Xavier (1506–1552) was a Roman Catholic missionary born in Navarre, Spain. He was a member of the Society of Jesus, a religious order founded by Ignatius of Loyola. Xavier is considered one of the "greatest missionaries in history". He traveled throughout Asia, preaching the Gospel to people in India, Sri Lanka, Japan, and other countries. He is credited with converting many people to Christianity.
