Joshua Cheptegei is the tenth man in history to hold the 5,000m and 10,000m world records concurrently. He is the first man to achieve this feat since Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia in 2005. Cheptegei broke the 5,000m world record in 12:35.36 in August 2020, and the 10,000m world record in 26:11.00 in October 2020. He is the current world champion in both events.
