Answer
Bede was offered to the monastery by his devout parents at the mere age of seven. He spent the rest of his life, about sixty years, within the monastery of Jarrow and its sister monastery of Monkwearmouth in present-day North East England. During this time, he became one of the most influential scholars and historians of his time, earning the title "The Venerable Bede".
