Jozef Tiso was a Slovak priest and politician who was the Prime Minister of Slovakia from 1938 to 1945 and the President of Slovakia from 1939 to 1945. In 1938, he officially turned Slovakia into a client state of Nazi Germany. Tiso was a fervent anti-Semite and cooperated with the Nazis in their persecution of Jews in Slovakia. After the war, he was convicted of treason and executed.
