Juan Manuel de Rosas was an Argentine statesman who served as the Governor of Buenos Aires Province from 1829 to 1852. He was a controversial figure who was both admired and reviled by his contemporaries. After his death in 1877, his remains were buried in Montevideo, Uruguay. In 1989, his remains were repatriated to Argentina and reburied in Buenos Aires.
