Jules Bordet was a Belgian immunologist and microbiologist. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1919 for his work on serum therapy of bacterial infections. Bordet was the first to demonstrate the role of antibodies in immunity, and he developed the Bordet-Gengou test for diagnosing diphtheria.
