Karl Adolph Gjellerup (6 July 1857 – 24 October 1919) was a Danish poet, writer, and Nobel Prize laureate. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1917 "for his poetic works, which give evidence of high idealism and remarkable originality". He was one of the first Danish writers to be widely read outside his native country, and his works were translated into many languages.
