Kary Mullis was an American biochemist. He is best known for his work on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), a technique that allows for the rapid amplification of DNA. Mullis was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1993 for his work on PCR. He was also a controversial figure, due to his outspoken views on religion and politics.
