Before becoming the Prime Minister of Iceland, Katrín Jakobsdóttir served as the Minister of Education, Science, and Culture. She was first elected to parliament in 2009 and served as the Minister of Education, Science, and Culture from 2013 to 2017. She was then elected Prime Minister in 2017 and has held that position ever since.
