Kazuyoshi Miura was the first Japanese recipient of the IFFHS Asia's Footballer of the Year award. He won the award in 1993, after leading Japan to the semi-finals of the 1992 AFC Asian Cup. Miura is considered one of the greatest Japanese footballers of all time, and is often referred to as "King Kazu".
