Kenichi Fukui was a Japanese chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1981 for his work on frontier molecular orbital theory. He was a professor at Kyoto University from 1964 to 1982, and then at the University of Tokyo from 1982 to 2008. He also served as president of the University of Tokyo from 1993 to 1997.
