Khalid ibn al-Walid died in either Homs or Medina in the year 642. He was a companion of the prophet Muhammad and a leading general of the Rashidun Caliphate. Khalid was known for his military prowess and his ability to quickly outmanoeuvre his opponents. He played a key role in the early Muslim conquests, and his victories helped to spread Islam throughout the Middle East.
