Which supreme court case prompted the order for all Kentucky clerks to issue same-sex marriage licenses?

  • Davis v. Hodges

  • Davis v. Obergefell

  • Obergefell v Davis

  • Obergefell v. Hodges

Answer

In 2015, the Supreme Court ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges that the fundamental right to marry is guaranteed to same-sex couples by the Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution. This ruling overturned state laws that prohibited same-sex couples from marrying, and required all states to issue same-sex marriage licenses.
