FG syndrome, formerly known as Fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome, is a genetic disorder characterized by intellectual disability, speech and language difficulties, and tremors. It is caused by a mutation in the FMR1 gene, which is located on the X chromosome. Kim Peek, who was known for his extraordinary memory and savant abilities, was initially diagnosed with autism but was later found to have FG syndrome.
