Lafcadio Hearn was an Irish-Greek-Japanese writer. Born in the Ionian Islands, Hearn moved to Ireland as a child. After attending school in France, he traveled to the United States and worked as a journalist. In 1890, he moved to Japan, where he lived for the rest of his life. Hearn wrote extensively about Japanese culture and history, and his work helped to introduce Japanese culture to the West.
