Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović was a politician and diplomat before she was elected as President. She served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Croatia from 2005 to 2009 and as NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy from 2009 to 2011. In 2015, she was elected President of Croatia, and she served in that role until 2020.
