Answer
Imprinting was not first discovered by Lorenz. It was initially observed and studied by the American psychologist Douglas Spalding in 1873, who conducted experiments on newly hatched chicks and their attachment to moving objects. However, the term "imprinting" and its widespread recognition in the scientific community are primarily attributed to the work of Konrad Lorenz, especially through his influential book, "Instinctive Behavior," published in 1937.
