Answer
Nathan Rees was succeeded by Kristina Keneally as Premier of New South Wales. Keneally became the first female Premier of the state in 2009, after Rees resigned due to declining popularity and internal party pressure. She served in the role until 2011, when the Labor Party lost the state election to the Liberal-National Coalition led by Barry O'Farrell.
