Ksenia Sobchak is a Russian journalist and television personality. Her father, Anatoly Sobchak, was the first democratically elected mayor of Saint Petersburg, a position he held from 1991 to 1996. He was a close ally of Boris Yeltsin and a prominent figure in the Russian democratic movement. After leaving office, he became a professor at Saint Petersburg State University. He died in 2000.
