After leaving the Army in 1930, Speer worked as an architect in Berlin and joined the Nazi Party in 1933. He was appointed as Hitler's chief architect in 1934 and was responsible for designing many of the Nazi regime's most famous buildings, including the Reich Chancellery and the Nuremberg Rally Grounds.
