Kwame Brown's high school coach was Russell Ellington. Ellington was the head coach at Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia, when Brown attended the school. He helped Brown develop his skills as a basketball player and prepared him for his college career at the University of Maryland. Ellington is also credited with helping Brown get drafted by the Washington Wizards with the first overall pick in the 2001 NBA draft.
