World record holder Kyle Chalmers has set the fastest time ever recorded in the short course 100 metre freestyle. His record-breaking swim of 44.84 seconds was achieved at the 2021 International Swimming League match in Naples, Italy. Chalmers' time broke the previous world record of 44.94 seconds, set by Frenchman Amaury Leveaux in 2008.
